800 bikes recalled

WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Cannondale Corp. of Bethel, Conn., Thursday recalled 800 bicycles with medium and large frames because some were improperly manufactured and can break.

Cannondale said it has received three reports of the frames breaking, leading to one minor injury.

The recall involves 2002 Gemini 1000, 2000 and 900, and 2003 Gemini 2000 and 1000 models.

The bikes were sold by authorized retailers nationwide between December and September for $2,100 and $3,800.

Consumers are advised to stop using the bicycles immediately and contact a Cannondale retailer for a free inspection. Improperly manufactured frames will be replaced free of charge.
