Stocks open lower

NEW YORK, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Stock prices on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market are lower in moderate trading Wednesday, pressured by bouts of profit taking amid worries that Tuesday's rally is not sustainable. The blue-chip Dow Jones industrial average, which surged 346.86 points Tuesday, was down 45.20 points to 7,893.50 shortly after the opening bell. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index, which jumped 41.66 points in the previous session, was down 3.38 points to 1,210.34.
