Stocks open slightly higher

NEW YORK, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Stock prices on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market are slightly higher in volatile triple-witching trading Friday, lifted by some early bouts of bargain hunting. Trading is expected to be volatile due to triple-witching, a quarterly event that sees the simultaneous expiration of futures, options on individual stocks and options on stock indexes. The blue-chip Dow Jones industrial average, which lost 230.06 points Thursday, was ahead 22.70 points to 7,965.00 shortly after the opening bell. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index, which fell 35.68 points in the previous session, was ahead 8.44 points to 1,224.89.
