Stocks open mixed

NEW YORK, July 26 (UPI) -- Stock prices on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market were mixed in fairly active trading Friday, pressured by continued worries over murky deals at banking giants like Citigroup Inc. and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. The blue-chip Dow Jones industrial average, which slipped 4.98 points Thursday, was down 16.40 points to 8,169.90 shortly after the opening bell. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index, which sank 50.15 points in the previous session, was ahead 7.43 points to 1,247.51.
