Stocks open higher

NEW YORK, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Stock prices on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market were higher in moderate trading Tuesday, lifted by news that Amazon.com posted its first profit. The Dow Jones industrial average was ahead 51.30 points to 9,823.10 shortly after the opening bell. The Nasdaq composite index was ahead 14.39 points to 1,944.73.
