NEW YORK, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- The National Association of Purchasing Management on Wednesday said business activity in the non-manufacturing sector grew in September as most industries were trying to determine the impact on their businesses from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The group's much-watched non-manufacturing business activity index rose 4.7 percentage points to 50.2 from 45.5 in August, which marked a low for the index.
