Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Odette is now a post-tropical cyclone located south of Nova Scotia.
In its final update at 1:31 a.m. EDT Saturday, the Canadian Hurricane Center said Odette was 124 miles south-southwest of Sable Island, which is about 109 miles southeast of the closest point of mainland Nova Scotia. Maximum sustained winds were 53 mph and moving northeast at 20 mph.
The National Hurricane Center's final update was 9 p.m. Saturday
The Canadian agency said the storm is "leaving the warm waters of the Gulf Stream" with characteristics of a strong fall storm that produces strong northerly winds and heavy rain."
A sharp cold front moving across Newfoundland Sunday will interact with moisture from the post-tropical storm to enhance the rainfall over southeastern portions of the Island late later in the afternoon and into the overnight hours, the agency said.
