Dec. 12 (UPI) -- A pair of earthquakes rattled Tennessee early Wednesday morning and could be felt as far away as Atlanta.
The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude 4.4 quake occurred at 4:15 a.m. EST about 14 miles southeast of Athens, Tenn. It occurred at a depth of about 5 miles.
Less than 15 minutes later, a magnitude 3.3 earthquake occurred in almost the same location, the USGS said. It occured at a depth of 4 miles.
More than 2,000 people across Tennessee, North Carolina, Alabama and Georgia reported feeling the earthquake.
No injuries or damages were reported.
