Sept. 9 (UPI) -- A ball python that escaped from its terrarium inside a high school classroom was located about a week later with help from reptile experts and thermal imaging cameras.
Officials at Fond du Lac High School said the snake, Kai, is the pet of a science teacher who has been bringing the reptile to school for years.
Kai escaped from his cage during Labor Day weekend, just before the first day of school, setting off a weeklong search for the animal.
The school said reptile experts were consulted and the local fire department used thermal imaging cameras to scan the building.
The school announced the non-venomous snake, which did not pose a threat to students or faculty, was found and returned to the teacher.
