Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Tourists visiting New York's Times Square were able to sight-see at an unusual temporary landmark -- a hot dog cart covered in bees.
The New York Police Department confirmed its official beekeeper was dispatched at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to remove hundreds of bees that swarmed around a hot dog cart at 43rd and Broadway.
"Fear not, New Yorkers and tourists. Midtown Manhattan is all abuzz about #NYPD's ability to bee a full-service organization. Right now, we're humanely, & safely, handling the @NYPDBees swarm in @NYPDTimesSquare," Police Commissioner James O'Neill tweeted.
Officers cordoned off the area Tuesday afternoon while the beekeeper used a vacuum to collect the insects.
The NYPD said the bees would be humanely re-hived.
