Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A revival of the police drama New York Undercover is in the works.
The Kevin Arkadie-Dick Wolf procedural initially ran on Fox 1994-98, and starred Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo as undercover detectives solving crimes in Manhattan.
Deadline.com reported Hand of God creator Ben Watkins is penning a pilot for a reboot of the series. He would also produce the show along with Wolf.
ABC is in talks to air the series, but Fox is also reportedly interested.
No casting has been decided yet.
Watkins re-tweeted a link to the article about the revival and posted his own message, which said: "What?!?! My favorite show is coming back? O, we about to have some fun with this!!! #nyundercover #BuckleUp #dreamcheck."
It also featured a winky face emoji with its tongue sticking out.
Bringing back long canceled shows has been a recent trend in streaming and broadcast television, with Roseanne, Will & Grace, Murphy Brown, Gilmore Girls and Full House all getting fresh episodes years after they went off the air.
