Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Andy Serkis is to receive the Motion Picture Showman of the Year prize at the 55th annual International Cinematographers Guild Publicists Awards.
Serkis is a renowned performance-capture actor whose work was prominently featured last year in the blockbusters War for the Planet of the Apes and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
He is scheduled to be honored at a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on March 2.
"Andy Serkis, with his unparalleled flexibility and understanding of movement, has made motion- capture his own. We are delighted that he will be flying in from England to be with us," Steven Poster, national president of the ICG, said in a statement.
Serkis is also known for his portrayal of Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as the titular beast in the 2005 version of King Kong.
