Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Gabrielle Union is responding to critics who disapprove of her kissing her daughter on the lips.

The 46-year-old actress said in an Instagram comment Thursday that she would never put Kaavia, her baby girl with Dwyane Wade, in harm's way.

"Hey guys I appreciate all the concern about kisses on the mouth and labored breathing, I am blessed enough to have a nurse here with us while at work," Union told fans.

"Kaav is healthy and I dont even touch her without washing and sanitizing myself and everything and everyone that comes into contact with her," she said.

The former Being Mary Jane star said she takes precautions with everyone, including Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey and her crew recently visited Union and Wade at home for a new TV special.

"No visits with sick folk and even all of Oprah's crew got whooping cough vaccinations to be in our home. If you think I waited this long and went thru all this to put my baby in harm's way... you got another thing coming," Union said.

Union came under fire Thursday after sharing a video of herself kissing Kaavia on the mouth.

"Kissing Game. She's got my [heart] on a string. @kaaviajames," she captioned the post.

Union and Wade welcomed Kaavia via surrogate in November after struggling to conceive for years. Winfrey posted a photo with the infant Nov. 20 after filming with the couple and their daughter at home.

"Look who I got to meet! Little @kaaviajames, the miracle baby! Kaavia James, you are SO loved my your parents," the star wrote.

"Couldn't be happier for @GabUnion and @DwyaneWade. I talk with them about their path to parenthood... this conversation is for every parent and anyone who became a family in their own way," she said.
