March 5 (UPI) -- James Ivory, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Call Me by Your Name, wore a t-shirt featuring a drawing of the film's star Timothee Chalamet to the Academy Awards.
Ivory wore the dress shirt, created by artist Andrew Mania, as part of his tuxedo as he walked the red carpet at the Oscars and accepted his award onstage for Best Adapted Screenplay for Call Me by Your Name.
The writer was able to obtain the shirt by getting into contact with Mania through a mutual friend who had seen the artwork. "James immediately wanted one, and the next day he messaged to say he wanted one for the Oscars! So I've been talking to James about this before Christmas," Mania said in a statement to Vanity Fair.
Ivory's Oscar win makes the 89-year-old the oldest competitive Oscar winner in history. Call Me by Your Name is based on author Andre Aciman's 2007 novel of the same name and stars Chalamet as a 17-year-old who falls in love with a 24-year-old played by Armie Hammer.
Chalamet was nominated for Best Actor but lost to Gary Oldman for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
