March 12 (UPI) -- The Department of Defense has awarded a $961 million contract to URS Federal Technical Services for maintenance on and support of the U.S. Air Force's drone fleet.
The Maryland-based company will work on the MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper and RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aircraft, which operate from locations worldwide, the Defense Department announced Friday.
The contract includes an indefinite amount of organizational-level maintenance as well as support of the aircrafts' launch and recovery activities, as well as their combat and training capability.
URS Federal Technical Services was one of three entities that bid on the contract, which will first include a $1.8 million payment from fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance funds at the time of the award.
Work on the contract is expected to be complete by June 30, 2019.
