Warriors send Tyrone Hill to Cavs

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriors traded forward Tyrone Hill to Cleveland for the Cavaliers' first-round pick in the 1994 NBA Draft.

The trade is contingent upon Hill passing a physical examination.

Under the terms of the trade, the Warriors will receive Cleveland's first round pick next year, unless it is a lottery pick. Should Cleveland, who had the league's sixth best record (54-28) last season have as the result of not making next year's playoffs, one of the first seven picks in the 1994 draft, Golden State would instead receive Cleveland's first-round pick the next time the Cavaliers top choice is not among the seven best.

Hill, 25, finished the 1992-93 season ranked 16th in the league with a 10.2 rebounds per game. In addition to becoming the first Warrior in six years to average double figures in rebounds, he contributed a career-high 8.6 points per game while averaging 28 minutes in 74 games, 66 as a starter.

Hill, who played college ball at Xavier, was the 11th player selected in the 1990 draft and has averaged 7.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 22.4 minutes in 230 regular season games in his three-year NBA career.

'As a team that had 11 players under contract and will be adding the number one pick in the NBA Draft (Michigan forward Chris Webber) we feel this trade helps to create a more positive situation for both the Warriors and Tyrone Hill,' said Golden State President Dan Finnane. 'The good news for Tyrone is that he is going to a team in his home state that has been and will continue to remain a contender in the Eastern Conference.'
