DENVER -- Tom Chambers scored 19 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday night, leading as the Phoenix Suns back from a 23-point second-half deficit to a 130-121 victory over the Denver Nuggets and a sweep of their opening-round NBA playoff series.

Kevin Johnson also had 32 points for Phoenix, who advanced to play the winner of the Golden State-Utah series.

The Suns swept a playoff series for the first time in their history.

Phoenix trailed 84-61 three minutes into the second half and remained behind 100-80 with 2:27 remaining in the third quarter. But the Suns ran off a quick 8-1 run to cut Denver's lead to 101-88 after three periods.

Phoenix opened the final quarter by hitting 16 of its first 18 shots, including 13 in a row. Chambers tossed in 15 points in the first five minutes of the quarter.

The Suns grabbed the lead for good on a Dan Majerle basket that put Phoenix ahead 119-118 with 4:12 to play.

The Nuggets, playing without injured starters Fat Lever and Danny Schayes, were held without a basket for six minutes and were outscored 24-7 in the game's final seven minutes.

Jeff Hornacek added 18 points for Phoenix, while Eddie Johnson had 14 and Majerle finished with 13. Chambers also led the Suns with 17 rebounds.

Walter Davis led Denver with 26 points, while Michael Adams and Alex English added 22 apiece and Darwin Cook scored 16.

The Nuggets led 36-27 after one quarter, and Davis scored 8 quick points early in the second quarter to help Denver pull away. Two Wayne Cooper baskets gave the Nuggets a 59-41 lead four minutes before halftime.

Adams' second 3-point basket of the quarter with three seconds left gave Denver a 72-54 halftime edge.
