HOLLYWOOD -- Filmmaker John Sayles has begun production of 'Eight Men Out,' a new movie dealing with the attempt by the Chicago Black Sox to throw the 1919 World Series.

Sayles, who directed 'Return of the Secaucus Seven' and 'Matewan,' also wrote the screenplay, based on the novel of the same title, depicting the biggest scandal in American sports history.

The cast includes John Cusack, Gordon Clapp, Jace Alexander, Charlie Sheen and Christopher Lloyd. Michael Rooker will portray first baseman Chick Gandil and D.B. Sweeney will play centerfielder 'Shoeless Joe' Jackson.
