Fawn Hall limits her exposure

By   |   March 6, 1987

NEW YORK -- Fawn Hall, the government secretary granted immunity to help expose the facts of the Iran arms scandal, has no plans to expose herself -- even for $500,000 from Penthouse magazine, her lawyer says.

Attorney Plato Cacheris said Thursday that Hall will reject the Penthouse offer for nude photos as well as requests that she pose for Playboy or agree to a film version of her life featuring Farrah Fawcett.

'She's not interested in any deals of any descriptions, period,' he said.

Hall, 27, the personal secretary to Lt. Col. Oliver North until he was fired from the National Security Council Nov. 25, has acknowledged shredding and altering documents dealing with the Iran arms-Contra aid scandal.

Hall, who now works at the Pentagon, has been granted immunity in return for her testimony by Lawrence Walsh, the independent prosecutor investigating the weapons sale and the possible diversion of profits to the Nicaraguan rebels.

Hall, a part-time model and ex-girlfriend of the son of Contra leader Arturo Cruz, also has been besieged with attention, and examples of her modeling work have been widely circulated in newspapers and magazines.

Penthouse and Playboy apparently believe their readers are interested in seeing more of Hall and have placed calls to Cacheris, but the attorney said he has not responded and Hall is not interested.

'I know she is not considering any such proposition. She will not pose,' he said. 'There's no interest of any manner, shape or form.'

A spokesman for Penthouse had said the $500,000 offer 'is in the mail right now.' But Cacheris said he was not aware of a specific offer and that in any case, 'We have not talked to them and will not talk to them.'

The New York Post reported Fawcett would like to portray Hall, but it was not known if financing had been obtained for a movie deal.

'This story appeals to Farrah because it is about loyalty and the excitement of being where history is made,' the newspaper quoted an unnamed friend of the actress as saying.

The newspaper also quoted Jeff Cohen, Playboy's managing photo editor, as saying readers are telling him Hall 'deserves to be in the magazine, and that she's a perfect candidate for Playboy.'

The Post said Playboy has been in communication with Hall's modeling agency and lawyer. The Post quoted Cohen as saying, 'We haven't been turned down, and they have been nice and cordial with our request.'

Hall told authorities she destroyed printouts in North's office before Attorney General Edwin Meese interviewed North. She admitted altering four of North's memos last November.
