James Foley's fellow captive delivers letter to his parents

"I have had weak and strong days. We are so grateful when anyone is freed; but of course, yearn for our own freedom. We try to encourage each other and share strength."

WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A letter written by American journalist James Foley while held captive by the Islamic State was memorized and delivered to his parents by a fellow hostage.

Foley asked a fellow prisoner to memorize his letter after the ones he wrote were confiscated by his IS captors.The prisoner was released and called Foley's mother Diane. The letter was posted Sunday on the Free James Foley Facebook page.

"I know you are thinking of me and praying for me. And I am so thankful. I feel you all especially when I pray. I pray for you to stay strong and to believe. I really feel I can touch you even in this darkness when I pray," said Foley in the letter.

A video of Foley being beheaded by an IS militant was released by the terrorist group in August.
