Biden plans to discuss international economic stabilization efforts with government officials, the White House noted prior to the vice president's departure. He will also talk with officials about "the latest developments in eastern Ukraine, where pro-Russian separatists, apparently with the support of Moscow, continue an orchestrated campaign of incitement and sabotage to destabilize the Ukrainian state."

In those meeting with government officials, the vice president's agenda also includes Ukraine's short and long term energy security, constitutional reform, decentralization, anti-corruption efforts, and the upcoming May 25 presidential elections.

"The Vice President will also meet with various Ukrainian people," the White House added, "to hear their aspirations and deepen the partnership between the United States and Ukraine."
