They were sentenced Tuesday.

The defendants belong to a drug trafficking ring, and sold 720 bricks of heroin from 2007 to 2009.

They sold drugs in Vietnam and China.

Police are searching for five other members of the ring.

In another drug case in the northern province of Quang Ninh, prosecutors have proposed that 34 of the 89 defendants--including 27 women -- be sentenced to death.

The defendants began transnational drug rings that traded about 12 tons of pills in 2012.

The hearing is set to be completed by the end of January.
