OSLO, Norway, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Convicted terrorist Anders Breivik said he's been subjected to hundreds of strip searches in prison, and doesn't receive enough fresh air and exercise.
Breivik is serving a 21-year sentence for killing 77 people in two 2011 attacks in and near Oslo.
He sent a 30-page letter to several news organizations and an anti-terror watchdog group complaining of his treatment in prison, TheLocal.no reported Friday.
In the letter, he said he wanted to retaliate for how he's being treated. He said he could build weapons out of items he's allowed in prison, including his Sony PlayStation 2, long screws and sheets of paper, the report said.
Breivik said prison authorities have also blocked the publication of a 1,000-page book he's written. He said he tried to send the book, "The Breivik Diaries" to a publisher, but it never arrived.
"He has a very detailed draft that will provide the basis for more than 1,000 pages of a finished book. Breivik has even received a commission from a publisher," his lawyer, Todd Jordet said.
Karl Gustav Knudsen, director of Skien prison, where Brievik is serving his sentence, said the writings weren't being censored.
"There is freedom of the press in this country, and as long as he does not encourage criminal offenses, we will not prevent him from sending out his text," he said.
