Convicted terrorist Breivik drops out of three university courses

OSLO, Norway, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Convicted terrorist Anders Breivik dropped the courses he was studying through the University of Oslo and won't be taking any exams, the university said.

"We recently received notification that he was not going to take any exams with us," Dag Harald Claes, chairman of the university's political department, told the Norwegian publication VG.

Breivik has been in an introductory course in political theory, a course in international politics and one in public policy and administration, The Local.no reported Thursday. Because he never graduated from high school, Breivik wasn't eligible for a degree program, but would have qualified for 30 course credits.

Breivik, the imprisoned far-right terrorist who killed 77 people in two 2011 attacks in and near Oslo, has received permission to take university classes, studying from a room inside the prison, officials said in September.

"Since he is not going to take the examination, he obviously won't get any credits," Claes told VG Thursday.

During Breivik's trial in 2012, court psychiatrists said his dropping out of high school or choosing not to further his education was a classic sign of a narcissistic personality.
