Four doctors, two bodyguards killed in Somalia attack

MOGADISHU, Somalia, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Six people, including four doctors, died Wednesday after the vehicle they were traveling in was ambushed near Mogadishu, Somalia, witnesses said.

Four Syrian and two Somali doctors, and their bodyguards were traveling towards a health clinic when gunman began firing indiscriminately at their vehicle, an eyewitness told the BBC.

One Somali and three Syrian doctors died, along with two of the bodyguards. One Syrian and one Somali doctor were seriously injured in the attack and were treated at Mogadishu's Medina Hospital.

The Syrian doctors were believed to be in Somalia as aid workers, the BBC reported.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
