KONNA, Mali, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- A boat carrying at least 400 passengers capsized along the Niger River in central Mali, leaving almost 200 people unaccounted for, authorities said.
The incident happened Friday near the town of Konna, The Indian Express reported.

The boat was traveling to the northern town of Timbuktu when it capsized, said Konna Mayor Sory Diakite.
At least 20 people have been confirmed dead, while 210 survivors had been counted, Diakite said.
"For the moment, the conditions of what exactly happened are not known," Diakite said
