Eight injured in hand-grenade attack on Pakistan police station

QUETTA, Pakistan, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Eight people were injured Tuesday when motorcyclists threw a hand grenade at a police station in Quetta, Pakistan, officials said.

The victims were taken from the New Sariab police station to Civil Hospital Quetta, where three were listed as critical, Dawn News reported.

The attackers fled the scene and security personnel combed the vicinity of the incident as part of the investigation.

Quetta has seen an upswing in violence in recent months due to separatist insurgency, sectarian violence and Taliban militants.

No one claimed responsibility for Tuesday's attack.
