LIMA, June 1 (UPI) -- Joran van der Sloot, the Dutch man serving a 28-year prison term for killing a Peruvian woman, is ready to get married while behind bars, his lawyer said.

Maximo Altez, van der Sloot's lawyer, said his client will marry Leydi Figueroa Uceda, who he met through a fellow inmate in prison and has been dating since October 2012.

HLN said the man long suspected of killing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway in Aruba in 2005 got Uceda pregnant -- but that news has never been confirmed.

After avoiding prosecution despite multiple arrests in Holloway's disappearance and suspected death, van der Sloot admitted killing a Peruvian woman, Stephany Flores, in 2010. The two got into a fight in a hotel room van der Sloot had taken out in his name and Flores' body was found there several days later.
