Taliban weapons supplier arrested

KABUL, Afghanistan, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- A supplier of weapons to the Taliban in the Chaparhar district of Afghanistan's Nangarhar province was arrested Thursday, military officials said.

The unnamed man provided mortars and other weapons to local Taliban insurgent forces and was taken into custody by Afghan and coalition security soldiers, a statement by the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command said Thursday.

One insurgent was killed in the arrest operation, the statement said.
