Harper to announce major new Canadian park

OTTAWA, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper will announce the formation of a major new national park in the Northwest Territories, the CBC reported Monday.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said the Conservative prime minister will announce the creation of the park, to be called Naats'ihch'oh (pronounced nat-TSEEN-cho), during a five-day tour of the Canadian Arctic he began Monday.

The park, which may be all or partially a reserve that has less protection than a full national park, will cover thousands of square miles to the north and adjacent to the Nahanni National Park Reserve, the CBC aid.
