Body-parts suspect accused of harassing PM

MONTREAL, June 2 (UPI) -- A Canadian porn actor suspected of killing a lover and mailing parts of his body to political parties is accused of harassing Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, the target of an international manhunt, is suspected of killing Jun Lin, a 33-year-old Concordia University student, last week in Montreal, dismembering him and mailing body parts to Hunter and members of Parliament, CBC News reported.

Magnotta, who police believe is in Europe, possibly France, is wanted for first-degree murder and is suspected of committing an indignity to a dead body, criminally harassing Harper and members of Parliament, "mailing an obscene thing" and publishing obscene materials.

A warrant alleged Magnotta caused "Harper and members of Parliament to reasonably fear for their safety or the safety of anyone known to them."

Police say Magnotta cut off the limbs of his victim and mailed a foot to Conservative Party headquarters and a hand to the Liberals.

The foot had been partially opened by a Tory staff member; the hand was later intercepted at a Canada Post facility in Ottawa.

CBC News said the publishing obscenity accusation appears to be related to a video posted online believed to be footage of Magnotta killing and dismembering the victim.

Interpol has posted a photo and information about Magnotta on its Web site.

A French police official said he believes Magnotta is in France.

Magnotta boarded a flight from Montreal to Europe, Montreal police said, but would not specify where.

CBC News said Magnotta grew up in the Toronto suburb Scarborough under the birth name Eric Clinton Newman and later lived in Lindsay, Ontario.
