At least 11 die in sectarian violence

KARACHI, Pakistan, April 10 (UPI) -- Targeted sectarian killings left at least 11 people dead in Pakistan overnight, police said Tuesday.

At least five people, including a police officer, were gunned down in Karachi, Geo News reported.

Police said unidentified armed men were responsible for the shootings.

In Quetta, six people belonging to the Hazara community were shot and killed at a shoe-making shop on Prince Road.

Unidentified masked men sprayed a volley of bullets into the shop, The Nation reported.

The six were killed instantly while three others received serious injuries.

Police said the incident appeared to be a case of sectarian targeted killing.

Soon after it occurred, angry members of the Hazara community ransacked the hospital where the injured were taken.
