Groups agree to protest principles

CAIRO, July 27 (UPI) -- Islamic and secular groups agreed the organizations will work together to manage Cairo's Tahrir Square during Friday's marches, representatives said.

Islamic groups plan to rally for Egypt's Islamic identity while several thousand people have camped out at the square since July 8 with the families of people who died during Egypt's revolution that led to the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, al-Masry al-Youm reported Wednesday.

"It has become a must to unify the square under specific demands during Friday's march. We don't want any clashes between Islamists and civil forces in the square. We need to raise demands, not disputes," said Ibrahim Salah, a member of Fedaey movement, a youth group on strike in Tahrir.

The demands include ending military trials of civilians, speeding up trials of Mubarak regime officials, ridding government of the remnants of Mubarak's regime and reforming the judiciary, the groups' representatives told al-Masry al-Youm.

"We've reached an agreement by which we ignore the differences and concentrate on common grounds, such as opposing the military trials for civilians," said Moataz Reda, a representative of the Islamic Salafi youth movement in the square.
