Iraq attacks kill, injure 95 in 24 hours

BAGHDAD, May 6 (UPI) -- Twenty-four hours of violence left 95 people dead or injured in cities across Iraq, law enforcement and government officials said.

A suicide bomber attacked a police training center in Hilla, killing at least 30 people and wounding 75 Thursday, a Health Ministry official said.

Police said gunmen killed a Defense Ministry employee Thursday in Baghdad's al-Saidiya area, al-Sumaria reported Friday.

Officials said a member of the Awakening Council was killed during an armed attack in Baquba.

A firebomb in the al-Shaab district in northern Baghdad damaged a liquor store near the central market, local officials said.

Al-Sumaria also reported a U.S. military base near Baquba was subject to a Katyusha missile attack.
