Nabil Shaath, a Palestinian negotiations team member, said Thursday Abbas would resign if the talks fail, but he did not say when.

Abbas attended the meeting before heading to Libya, where he will participate in meetings of the Arab League Summit and Arab Follow-up Committee.

Abbas has threatened to walk out since peace talks resumed Sept. 2 and was expected to announce his official stance before the Arab League, the report said.
