June 1 (UPI) -- Twitter said Tuesday it will start advertisements on its disappearing tweets feature known as Fleets.

The feature launched in November for users who want to tweet something less permanent has apparently been successful enough to start making money by expanding ads beyond users' timelines.

"We're bringing full-screen, vertical ads to Twitter for the first time," Twitter Business tweeted Tuesday.

The social media company is piloting the Fleet ads to a limited group of people in the United States on iOS and Android, according to the announcement.

The platform will support images and video in 9:16 aspect ratio, and videos up to 30 seconds long, Twitter Business said in a statement. Advertisers can add a "swipe-up" to the ad as a call-to-action.

Advertisers will also get access to Twitter Ads metrics for the Fleet ads "including impressions, profile visits, clicks, website visits, and more," the statement said.

Some companies have already been using the Fleets in creative ways, Twitter Business said, sharing pictures of how Disney+ celebrated Earth Day as an example, and hopes for similarly creative ads.

Twitter Business added that it will monitor how Fleets ads perform not only for the customers, but also users because they want the ads to be "non-intrusive."
