Police: Border Patrol agent sexually abused 3 women over 7 years

May 23 (UPI) -- Arizona authorities say they've charged a U.S. Border Patrol agent with several counts of sexual assault after at least three women said they were victimized over a seven-year period.

Tucson police arrested and charged Steven Charles Holmes on Tuesday. Officials said he'd been assigned to the Tucson border station, and has been placed on leave.

Investigators said Holmes met the women on a dating app and identified himself as a Border Patrol agent. One of the women told police this month she was assaulted after her date with Holmes, and Tucson police said they found similar accusations from others dating back to 2012.

Holmes was booked into jail and charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of aggravated assault.

"We do not tolerate misconduct on, or off duty, and will fully cooperate with all investigations of alleged misconduct by our personnel," a CBP spokesperson said.
