Google turns logo gray in honor of day of mourning for George H.W. Bush

Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Google's colorful logo was switched to gray on Wednesday to observe a day of mourning for former President George H.W. Bush.

Bush, the 41st president of the United States, died Friday at the age of 94. His death came six months after the passing of his wife of 73 years, former first lady Barbara Bush.

President Donald Trump declared Wednesday as a national day of mourning for Bush. The federal government and financial markets will be closed including the United States Postal Service, the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq.

Bush will also be honored Wednesday during a memorial service at 11 a.m. ET at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Bush's son, former President George W. Bush, is scheduled to eulogize his father during the ceremony along with historian and Bush biographer Jon Meacham, former Sen. Alan Simpson and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.

Bush's family, including his son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, leaders from around the world and current and former U.S. Presidents such as Trump, first lady Melania Trump, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; and former President Jimmy Carter, will attend the service.

Bush is the fourth U.S. president to have a state funeral at the National Cathedral following Dwight Eisenhower in 1969, Ronald Reagan in 2004 and Gerald Ford in 2007.
