By Sara Shayanian

May 25 (UPI) -- Authorities said Friday a gunman who shot a woman and young girl inside an Oklahoma City restaurant was killed by an armed bystander as he attempted to flee.

Police said the shooter opened fire inside the Louie's restaurant Thursday and targeted the woman and girl before he left. An armed patron followed him outside.

"A bystander with a pistol confronted the shooter outside the restaurant and fatally shot him," Oklahoma City police said.

The woman and girl were hospitalized, but expected to survive. Another victim received a minor injury.

Witness Ron Benton was at the restaurant's bar when he heard gunfire. He told NewsOK the bystander retrieved a gun from his vehicle and shot the perpetrator. He also said the gunman wore protective earphones and glasses.

"I spotted the shooter walking along the sidewalk in the trees and I pointed saying, 'He's there! He's there!' " Benton recalled.

"He kind of stopped walking and was kind of pacing around and they are screaming, 'Put it down!' [The gunman] must have made a move because shots were being fired and I got down."
