The victims of Texas church shooting: Who they were

Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Twenty-six people ranging in age from 18 months to 77 years old were killed and 20 more were injured during a mass shooting at a church in Texas on Sunday.

Freeman Martin, regional director of the Texas Department of Public Safety said 23 people died inside the church, two outside of the church and one at the hospital. Of the 20 injured victims, six were in stable condition, four in serious condition and 10 in critical condition.

Authorities have not released the names of all those who were killed, pending the notification of the next of kin.

At least 10 of those who died in the shooting were children including the pastor's daughter as well as an unborn child.

Annabelle Renee Pomeroy, 14, was one of the first of the dead identified. Her father, the pastor of the church, Frank Pomeroy, and her mother, Sherri Pomeroy, were out of town at the time of the shooting. Her father said the teen "was one very beautiful, special child."

Eight members of the Holcolmbe family, spanning three generations, were also killed during the attack.

Bryan Holcombe, an associate pastor for the church, who was filling in for Pomeroy on Sunday, was killed in the shooting along with Karla Holcombe, his wife of four decades.

Marc Daniel Holcombe, the 36-year-old son of Bryan and Karla, also was killed along with his 1-year-old daughter, Noah Holcombe.

Crystal Holcombe, the wife of Bryan and Karla's other son, John Holcombe, was pregnant at the time of the shooting and was killed along with her unborn child and three of her children, Emily, Megan and Greg.

Two of her children survived the shooting and were in the hospital with her husband.

Joann Ward and her two daughters, Brooke Ward and Emily Garza also died.

Her 5-year-old son, Ryland Ward, was shot several times and was in surgery Sunday night.

A couple from Michigan, Robert Corrigan and Shani Corrigan, leave behind two sons on active military duty. Robert Corrigan was an Air Force retiree and Shani Corrigan was the director of Veterans' Services in Clare County, Mich.

Also among the dead were Dennis Johnson and Sara Johnson, who celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in July. They had attended the church for more than a decade.

Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves and Army National Guard, and Sara worked in a church nursery for more than three decades.

Sixteen-year-old Haley Krueger was among the multiple young people killed in the attack. A family friend said she wanted to be a neonatal nurse and that she loved babies.

Karen Marshall and Scott Marshall were visiting the First Baptist Church for the first time when they were killed Sunday. They had recently moved to Texas from Pittsburgh and were seeking to find a congregation to join.

A colleague of Tara McNulty, who worked at the Aumont Saloon in nearby Seguin, confirmed her death. She was a "sweet, kind and loving woman," her friend, Amy Woodall, said.
