The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon while Adams was babysitting the toddler, Paris Adams, at her home in Hartwell, Ga., located about 110 miles outside of Atlanta.

Adams said she and Paris were in her backyard when the dogs came running out of the house, knocked her down, and attacked the child. Adams said she was able to get the dogs off Paris and back into the house, but the child had been badly mauled.

Fox Carolina reported that Adams first took Paris to his mother nearby. The two then took the child to an urgent care facility, where he was pronounced dead minutes later.

The dogs were quarantined at a nearby animal shelter and are set to be euthanized.

"The dogs will be put down as soon as we can put them down," District Attorney Parks White said.

Adams had been cited numerous times in the past few years for her dogs running loose in the neighborhood.

In December 2015, two people said one of Adams' dogs "charged at them and was acting vicious."

In the incident report, police wrote that the two complainants and other people in the neighborhood have "had problems with this dog before running loose...They both advised that they feel that the dog is too aggressive toward people."
