May 19 (UPI) -- Three men face capital murder charges for the shooting death of a 6-year-old boy who was in a car they allegedly stole, the Madison County, Miss., district attorney said.

Kingston Frazier's mother left him in a car with its motor running in the parking lot of a Jackson supermarket while she shopped Thursday morning. The car was stolen and later found 15 miles away. The boy was found shot in the back seat, law enforcement authorities said.

The boy's mother, Ebony Archie, initially told police about the stolen car, and later said her son was in the car, Hinds County Sheriff Victor Mason said.

"When we found out later that there was a child in the back, we immediately notified the highway patrol [who] put out an Amber Alert," Hinds County Sheriff Victor Mason said.

Three suspects are in custody. Dwan Diodro Wakefield, 17, was arrested Thursday. D'Allen Washington, 17, turned himself in to the Madison County Sheriff's Department, and Byron McBride Jr., 19, was taken into custody in a nearby apartment and was transported by U.S. Marshals to the Hinds County Sheriff's Department. All three are from the Jackson area.
