WASHINGTON, July 29 (UPI) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence said the Donald Trump campaign will discuss whether to lift media blacklists for reporters they have barred from covering their events.

Pence, speaking to conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, said the campaign will continue to be "available to the media, whether they're fair or unfair," Pence said.

Hewitt urged Pence to "argue" with Trump on the issue, calling it unfair and a needless distraction for the campaign.

"Reporters are part of the game," Hewitt said. "We shouldn't ban. Republicans should not be afraid of reporters," adding later, "It's an unnecessary diversion."

Trump has banned reporters from several media outlets from covering campaign rallies and press conferences, including The Washington Post, Politico and The Huffington Post. CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said Friday he has also been blacklisted for "how we conduct our interviews," Politico reported.
