WASHINGTON, March 25 (UPI) -- Former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina says she will convert her campaign into a super PAC aimed at helping "conservative outsiders" win office.

Fiorina made the announcement on her Facebook page, saying she wants to help other candidates who faced the same uphill climb she did, running for office without significant backing from the GOP establishment.

In the post, Fiorina said she would work to elect "real conservative leaders from outside the political class, who will engage citizens around the nation and lead the charge to take our country back."

A check of her campaign finances shows the super PAC supporting her campaign had about $1.2 million left as of March 7. Fiorina exited the race after a disappointing showing in the New Hampshire primary. She placed seventh in the crowded Republican field, getting just 4 percent of the vote.

Fiorina has since endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the race.
