DALLAS, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- A police officer shot a prisoner in the bathroom at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Friday.

The incident took place after the two men got into an altercation while in a men's bathroom in Terminal C at the airport. The out-of-state law enforcement officer was transporting the prisoner through the airport.

A spokesman for the airport, David Magana, said the prisoner was "apparently shot in the hand." The officer was also injured.

Both men were transported to the hospital. Their statuses were unknown.

The Terminal C10 checkpoint was shut down, though Magana said the incident didn't affect any flights or other operations.
