DES MOINES, Iowa, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Donald Trump will be in Iowa, an important federal election state, for the Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner on May 15.

He will be the keynote speaker at the event, an opportunity that is furthering the idea he'll be running for president. Trump already said in January that he's thinking about running in 2016 "very seriously."

"Our country is in such trouble, and it would be so easy to fix," Trump said in a speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit. "We have such great potential. If I run for president, and if I win, I would totally succeed in creating jobs, defeating ISIS and stopping the Islamic terrorists."

Trump talked about running in 2012 and 2000. He told the Des Moines Register he regrets not running in 2012, because he's confident he could have beat President Barack Obama. He believes Hillary Clinton would be harder to beat.
