Obama: Let's not live out 'Scandal'

"No offense, 'Scandal' is a great show," Obama told the crowd. "But it's not necessarily something we want to be living out."

LOS ANGELES, July 24 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama praised the show Scandal, but said he doesn't want to be "living it out" while attending a fundraiser Wednesday at the home of the show's creator Shonda Rhimes.

Obama was in the middle of a three-day West Coast fundraising tour when he attended the event along with the show's star Kerry Washington.

"No offense, Scandal is a great show," Obama told the crowd. "But it's not necessarily something we want to be living out."

He also took the time to rip on Republicans for the current dysfunction in government.

The Republican party "has been taken over by people who just don't believe in government," said Obama. They "obfuscate and they bamboozle and sometimes don't say what's true -- that was a euphemism," he added.

He credited the takeover of the House to a lack of voter turnout and encouraged voting in the 2014 midterms in an effort to keep control of the Senate.
