SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C., July 22 (UPI) -- An 18-year-old man from South Carolina was arrested for allegedly attacking and cutting a pregnant neighbor with a sword after claiming to have gang affiliations.

According to police, at roughly 3 a.m. Friday night, Malaki Alberto Dominic Aguado and some neighbors were drinking and hanging out outside the pregnant woman's home in Spartanburg County. Aguado began boasting about his supposed gang affiliations and needlessly challenging other men in the group to fight. When no one responded to Aguado's posturing, he punched one of the men and fled to his nearby home.

Aguado quickly returned, now carrying a knife. The man Aguado punched disarmed the knife-wielding teen, hitting him in the chest and forcing Aguado to drop the weapon.

Defeated and humiliated, Aguado took to threatening the group, saying he would kill them all, before his father came out and attempted to end his son's tantrum by dragging the teen back inside.

But Aguado's violent outbursts were not over, as he reemerged a few minutes later, this time wielding a sword.

Aguado first attacked the pregnant woman, hitting her in the neck, before reportedly hitting the man he previously attacked in the back. When Aguado dropped the sword he continued to attack the pair until the pregnant woman bit him on the shoulder and Aguado's father was able to again pull him away.

As he was being dragged home by his father, Aguado continued to shout threats to the people he attacked, saying he knew where their families lived.

Aguado's male victim did not require medical attention, but the pregnant woman was taken to a nearby hospital. Aguado was taken into police custody and is charged with two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
