GLENN COUNTY, Calif., April 10 (UPI) -- A tour bus carrying Los Angeles-area high school students collided with a FedEx truck on I-5 about 100 miles north of Sacramento, killing at least nine people and injuring dozens.
California Highway Patrol confirmed the fatalities on Thursday evening. Officials also said that the students were on their way to Humboldt State University for a college tour.

Though the exact cause of the crash was not immediately clear, some media outlets reported that the southbound truck hit the bus head on when it drifted into northbound lanes.
There were 46 passengers on the bus.
Family members have also told NBC Los Angeles that the students were from different schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
