ORLANDO, Fla., April 9 (UPI) -- A silver Dodge Durango rammed into an Orange County, Fla., day care center, on Wednesday, killing a 4-year-old girl.

The hit-and-run also injured 14 people, including children, some of whom were transported to nearby hospitals in serious condition.

The police believe the driver of the truck was 28-year-old convicted felon Robert Corchado.

Authorities said they located the Durango outside a house in Winter Park, Fla., though Corchado is still at large.

Orange County Fire Rescue spokesman John Mulhall described the scene at the crash as "intense," while Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Wanda Diaz said some of the injuries were "very, very serious."

“It was chaos everywhere,” witness Ronny Avellan told the New York Times. “The vehicle was inside the day care, almost in the middle, and there were kids everywhere, on tables and running around. I saw one of the teachers giving CPR to a child.”

Corchado was out of jail on bail on a drug charges. He previously served two years for cocaine trafficking.
